Some weddings feel like stepping into a dream—Olivia and Kyle’s was like stepping into a beautifully haunted fairytale. Nestled along Officers Row in Vancouver, WA, the historic Marshall House was the perfect backdrop for their elegantly eerie celebration, blending Victorian charm with the mystery of the Haunted Mansion.
Getting Ready in a Piece of History
The day began with Olivia getting ready in General Marshall’s old office, a space filled with rich wood accents, antique details, and the echoes of history. As she fastened the final buttons on her gown, the significance of the moment wasn’t lost—she was stepping into her own story within the walls of a house that had witnessed so many before her. Meanwhile, Kyle prepared for the day in a quiet area at the back of the house, tucked away from the excitement, his anticipation growing with every passing minute.
A First Look in the Side Yard
Before the ceremony, Olivia and Kyle shared a first look in the side yard, a secluded space hidden from view of teh guests. As Olivia approached, the breeze carried just a hint of anticipation. When Kyle turned around, his expression said everything—pure joy, love, and just a bit of awe. In that quiet moment, surrounded by the whispers of history and rustling leaves, time seemed to stand still.
A Ceremony in the Parlor
Their ceremony took place in the parlor, with the morning light coming through the windows as their families looked on.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to an English tea luncheon. The couple brought in individual tea cups for their guest to bring home as favors as well. Towering trays of scones and pastries, and a selection of fine teas from Killa Bites created a refined and cozy reception. The soft hum of conversation and laughter filled the dining room, while board games were being set up and played throughout the downstairs.
The couple had a grand exit as we were heading over to Fort Vancouver for their couple’s portrait session.
I absolutely love photographing couples at the Marshall House and hope to photograph many more weddings there!
