Some projects carry a little extra weight. Not because they’re bigger or louder, but because of the history behind them.

Working with Roof Toppers was one of those moments.

This branding session took place just a few weeks after I turned in my 30-day notice. For nine years, I worked as an estimator in their commercial division. I knew the rooftops, the schedules, the safety meetings, and the quiet pride that comes with doing hard work well. At the same time, I was building my photography business piece by piece, always with the goal of one day going all in.

This shoot marked that shift.

Roof Toppers brought me in to create updated imagery for their new website and marketing materials. The goal was to show the scale, professionalism, and care that goes into their work, without losing the human side of the story. Because roofing isn’t just materials and measurements.

It’s people trusting a crew to protect their buildings, their businesses, and everything underneath.

Having lived that world, I approached this session with a deep understanding of what matters. The preparation before stepping onto a roof. The teamwork. The safety systems. The focus that goes into every inspection and install. Those details shape trust, and they deserve to be seen.

We created imagery that highlights Roof Toppers’ commercial work in action, capturing crews doing what they do best. Real job sites. Real conditions. No glossing over the grit. Just solid, capable people doing skilled work they stand behind.

For me, this project was more than branding photography. It was a full-circle moment. Returning not as an employee, but as a business owner who finally stepped into photography full time. It’s a reminder that good branding is rooted in honesty, experience, and respect for the work being done.

Roof Toppers now has imagery that reflects who they are and how they operate, strong, reliable, and grounded in decades of expertise. And I get to carry this project as a milestone, proof that growth sometimes looks like standing on familiar ground with a brand-new perspective.
