I love when couples get married at a place that is special to them. Kristina and Josh got married at their church in University Place, WA in front of their children, family, and close friends.
Leaving the Vancouver, WA area at about 6:30 am, I only made one coffee stop on my way up to be at their location at 8:30. As usual, I arrived a little bit early to scope the place out.
The Neighborhood Church had some spectacular stained glass windows in from of the doors to the sanctuary.
Once Kristina and her sister Tracee arrived. We all went upstairs to the large bride’s room to start getting ready. They were doing their hair and makeup and had dazzling details to go along with their dresses.

Downstairs, Josh, his brother, and his son were all getting ready in another room. While Josh was finishing up, Tracee brought down his grooms’ gift.
Kristina and Josh both love Disney, so a watch featuring Mickey is perfect.
I went back upstairs and snuck away with Kristina’s dress before she got into it. I love the detail on the belt!
Once I had that done, it was time to get into it.
When the couple wants the first look to be during the ceremony, I try to see if we can get some formals done beforehand. This cuts down the amount of time that we need after the ceremony and lets the couple enjoy their party more. Kristina and Josh were entirely up for this and ready in plenty of time before ceremony time.
A second shooter will usually help me out with this and make sure one was hidden away from the other. I did not have a second shooter at this wedding, but I do have a long history with the bride’s family. Our families grew up together going camping and boating. So I was able to get some of the other family members to run interference if need be.
With one of the couple in the chapel at a time, I got what I could without having them see each other.
And look at these two?! So much cuteness!
Being a mom myself, when I see a grumpy little kid, I can’t help but smile. Us parents have all been there. So why not embrace it?
Josh got his watch a little earlier, so Tracee went in and delivered Josh’s gift to Kristina. Along with it came a sweet little note that Kristina tried hard to keep the tears back.
Josh awaited his bride in the chapel as her Dad walked her down the aisle.
I think I saw a little tear in Josh’s eyes as she came down the aisle to him.
During the ceremony, the couple took communion, told each other their sweet vows, and of course, sealed the deal with a kiss.
The reception was afterward and held upstairs in a large common room. There was a sweetheart table setup, a delicious dessert bar, and lots of friends and family hanging out up there to see the happy couple.
And look at the gorgeous rings!
Kristina and Josh’s wedding was a great time, and I am so happy for them. I wish them all the best!
