The Campbell Family – A Going Away Portrait Session

Family Portraits in Vancouver, WA

What do you do when moving states away from your family shortly? Why you book a family portrait session? That’s what!

The Campbell family was moving from Vancouver, WA to California and wanted some extended family pictures to take along with them.

I met them at their family member’s house, which had the perfect yard. I group up the separate family for these kinds of family sessions and then put them all together. One trick I have learned through the years is to ALWAYS work with the children first. With their energy, I can get them to smile and have fun before they get tired.

I met them at their family member’s house, which had the perfect yard. I group up the separate family for these sessions and then put all the kids together. One trick I have learned through the years is to ALWAYS work with the children first. With their energy, I can get them to smile and have fun before they tire. And we all know what happens when kids are tired.

Along with whole family portraits, I always get the parents together without the kids. You often need more time to realize that you always need pictures throughout your relationship. As I’m typing this, I know my husband, and I rarely have photos together. Still, our teenager has been adamant about them when we were out together as a family.

And also, please bring your favorite skeleton along. If you don’t have one, I made the business investment on one this last fall and it can be provided for you.

How do we wrap up a session like this? Why getting the siblings to bear hug the parents of course!

I have had plenty of families come into the session not knowing what to expect or feeling anxious about being in front of the camera. Well, you can forget about that! My socially awkward personality puts everybody at ease, and we have a great time. You don’t have to fake a smile, as I can bring my vast knowledge of horrible jokes with me!
