I will admit, I haven’t explored Astoria much, but after this wedding, I have visited a few more times to soak in the history of the first European settler town on the west coast of the United States.

In 1811, John Jacob Astor, a New York financier, sent fur traders to the area and the trading post of Fort Astoria was established.”

While Sam and Jack live out of town because Jack is active in the military, they chose to get married and celebrate in Astoria, OR, so that many of their friends and family could attend.

The Grace Episcopal Church not only has a gorgeous, historic chapel, but they have living quarters attached which offer a great spot to get ready.

Sam and her party got ready in the house, while Jack and his party prepped in the church.

Built in 1864, the chapel stands as a timeless testament to history and elegance, offering a captivating backdrop for ceremonies held within its hallowed halls. Its age-old architecture exudes a sense of grandeur and charm, captivating all who enter with its majestic beauty. The chapel’s stately presence lends an air of reverence to each wedding ceremony, infusing the occasion with a touch of old-world sophistication and romance. Against the backdrop of it’s gorgeous stained glass windows, couples exchange vows and embark on the journey of a lifetime, surrounded by the rich heritage and timeless allure of this historic sanctuary.

Navigating the intricacies of chapel weddings often entails adhering to certain rules set forth by the venue or pastor. For couples planning such ceremonies, it’s crucial to communicate these guidelines to their photographer in advance.

In my experience capturing Sam and Jack’s special day, I encountered specific parameters that restricted my movement during the ceremony. Adhering to these guidelines meant positioning myself along the side rows and halfway up the main aisle, ensuring minimal disruption to the proceedings. While these restrictions posed challenges, careful preparation, including bringing the appropriate lenses, allowed me to adapt and document the essence of the momentous occasion.

Despite not capturing Sam’s front-facing walk down the aisle, the ceremony unfolded seamlessly, uniting two remarkable individuals in a celebration of love and commitment.

As the festivities of Sam and Jack’s wedding ceremony came to a close, the guests eagerly made their way to the reception hall at The Loft at the Red Building.

Amidst the excitement, Sam and Jack chose to linger behind, allowing for a special moment captured in time. With their cherished Bronco as a backdrop, we seized the opportunity to capture intimate portraits of the newlyweds, encapsulating the essence of their love and the joy of their union.

Against the quaint charm of the church grounds, Sam and Jack radiated happiness, their smiles echoing the warmth of the day. It was a privilege to witness their connection and immortalize this tender moment before they joined their loved ones to continue the celebration at The Loft.

The Loft proved to be an idyllic setting for Sam and Jack’s reception, nestled along the serene riverfront.

Its picturesque location offered guests a delightful combination of indoor and outdoor spaces to mingle and celebrate.

With access to the spacious deck overlooking the tranquil waters, guests could savor the fresh air and scenic views while catching up with loved ones. Inside, the expansive room provided ample space for dining, dancing, and creating unforgettable memories. T

he ambiance of The Loft perfectly complemented the joyful atmosphere of the occasion, making it a memorable and cherished part of Sam and Jack’s wedding day.

Speaking of the deck, we headed out there when the reception was wrapping up for some portraits with the Astoria bridge in the background.

In conclusion, witnessing Sam and Jack’s union was an absolute delight, and capturing the precious moments of their wedding day was truly an honor.

From the heartfelt vows to the joyous celebrations, every detail sparkled with love and happiness.

Sam and Jack, may your journey together be filled with endless love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Congratulations on your wedding, and may your bond grow stronger with each passing day. It was a privilege to be a part of your special day, and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and bliss.
