Update to the 10 New Things I Learned as a Wedding Photographer (Four Years Later)
It’s been four years now since I wrote my original post “10 Things I Learned In My First Season as a Wedding Photographer”, so I thought now would be a perfect time for an update.
There are some major additions to this list, but I thought that I would start out with an update on the first 10 topics that I started within my first year. I’ll be adding to the list next week, so stay tuned!

Silver Falls Park | Melissa and Ethan’s Waterfall Wedding
With my love of waterfalls, Silver Falls Park had always been on my list of places to visit. Since I started photographing weddings four years ago, it has been harder and harder for me to head out and just cover landscapes. Luckily, I have amazing clients that allow me to capture both landscapes and weddings at the same time!

Multnomah Falls Wedding | Katie and Christian
Multnomah Falls on my list of dream venues to shoot at, and Katie and Christian helped me achieve that dream!
My assistant Eleanor and I arrived at a surprisingly open parking lot and made our way over to the historic lodge. Inside, we were able to go where more tourists can not, the attic.
It had a curtained balcony opening to the dining, room, a marvelous old fireplace, and my favorite, a triangular window that ran along the roof slope outside.
The ceremony took place in the plaza a little farther back than the falls itself. We could see the top of the falls from there but otherwise were surrounded by the gorgeous trees that we have here in the Pacific northwest.

McMenamin’s Edgefield Spring Wedding | Ashley and Nick
Congratulations to Ashley and Nick on their super fun wedding at McMenamin’s Edgefield! The spring day was a typical Northwest. We were lured outside by the sight of sunshine and then had to dash back inside when we felt the first raindrop. Between all of that, Ashley and Nick are amazing. I could tell that one fo my main challenges would be trying to … Read More McMenamin’s Edgefield Spring Wedding | Ashley and Nick

Stonehenge Gardens, Hood River, OR Wedding | Lisa and Zanne
Lisa and Zanne contacted me about meeting them in their favorite city to hang out for the weekends, Hood River, OR., for their engagement session. I had only been out there a few times, but from what I visited, I LOVED. Wahclella Falls Elopement | Steve and Tricia
They were an adventurous couple that loved hiking and spending time outdoors. So naturally, they wanted a gorgeous setting for their private ceremony. They had already chosen Wahclella Falls as their location from seeing multiple images online from other weddings, but we added Government Cove in there for a great spot for images as well.

Council Crest Park Portland, Oregon | Wedding with Erin and Justin
The wedding was in the middle of summer at one of Portland’s lesser known parks. Council Crest is tucked up in the hills among neighborhoods and twisted roads. After a few logistic hiccups, they had a perfect little ceremony surrounded by friends, overlooking Portland, and a backdrop of Mount Hood in the distance.
