I didn’t start out photographing people. For years I didn’t start out photographing people. For years, it was just me, the quiet wilderness, and the sweeping ridgelines of the Pacific Northwest. I was obsessed with the grandeur of the landscape—the sweeping, ancient backdrops that make you feel gloriously small. Then my brother-in-law challenged me to shoot his wedding. Stepping into that world shifted everything for me. I realized that a magnificent backdrop is breathtaking on its own, but placing raw, honest human connection right in the middle of it? Emilie wanted to stand out with her senior sessions, so I took her to one of my hidden spots along SR 14 to enjoy a quiet afternoon capturing her senior session. When I started into photography, I loved going out and capturing the landscapes of the area. While I was a construction estimator, my boss gave us Friday's off, so my pup and I would just go out and explore. I'd find parks, viewpoints, and off the beaten path areas to hang out in. Now, I use that knowledge to find the perfect spots for you.

My Husband and Daughter made the fatal mistake of saying "hey, let's go check out the shelter here"! We'll after playing in the kitten rooms, this one stole our hearts. She's confiedent, fiesty, but also soooooooo chill. She's living up to her name and making the dogs cower while trying to meet her. She had also already claimed a spot on my editing desk and is currently napping between her reigns of terror at the house. Welcome to the chaos that is our family little one! Thank you to the @olympicpeninsulahumanesociety for letting us adopt this little one! She has sisters left if anyone else needs a little void monster in their house too.
4:30 AM. Quiet house, soft steps trying not to wak 4:30 AM. Quiet house, soft steps trying not to wake the family, camera gear in hand, and an open road waiting. Our cabin was an hour and some change away from Hurricane Ridge, but every great journey starts before the rest of the world wakes up. With a hot cup of coffee from an early-morning stand in hand, I started up the winding road into Olympic National Park. I knew early on I wouldn’t make it all the way to Sunrise Point before the absolute first light hit, so I leaned into the slow pace. I stopped a few times on the way up, taking in the quiet moments as the sky began to shift (those images are coming later!). As I pulled into the top parking lot and started the climb, doubt crept in. Hikers were already heading down, the light was shifting fast, and a veil of wildfire smoke was hanging low in the sky. I wondered if the horizon would give me anything at all. But I had my coffee, the trail beneath my feet, and a belief that there is always magic if you’re willing to keep walking. Near the top, on the opposite side of the hill, subtle light streams began popping over the ridge. And then—I crested the trail to this. The smoke didn’t ruin the view; it made it poetic. Sunbeams pierced through the haze, lighting up the valleys while casting long, sweeping shadows of the peaks across the evergreen canopy. Down below, tiny cars wove their way up the mountain road—a quiet reminder of how small we are, and how incredible it is to be right here, right now. I sat there for an hour, sipping my coffee, watching the shadows dance and the morning unfold. Sometimes, all it takes is a little faith, a hot cup of coffee, and a willingness to step out the door into the morning light. For years, Sol Duc Falls sat near the top of my pe For years, Sol Duc Falls sat near the top of my personal map. I’ve traveled the winding roads of the Olympic Peninsula countless times, but this specific trail remained just out of reach. My trusty four-legged companions are always along for the ride, and since dogs aren't allowed on this path—and leaving them in a warm car is a absolute non-negotiable—I kept passing the trailhead by. So when the moment finally came to lace up my boots and walk into the quiet, moss-draped canopy with just the humans in my family, it felt like reaching a long-awaited checkpoint on an epic journey. Standing there amidst the damp earth and ancient trees, I was reminded of a simple truth: nature doesn't tell just one story at a time. It tells dozens, all at once, depending entirely on where you pause to look. I’m naming this pair "Two Sides of Every Story." Swipe 1: The classic, breathtaking view from the wooden bridge. You see the full force of the water crashing into the narrow slot canyon—grand, dramatic, and wild. Swipe 2: Standing above the brink, looking down toward the bridge framed by old-growth giant firs. They are not two separate moments; they are the exact same heartbeat of the forest, captured from two different vantage points. When Gavin emailed me asking if I knew Lower Falls When Gavin emailed me asking if I knew Lower Falls and if I’d be up for venturing out to capture his proposal to Anna at the top of the waterfall, my answer was an immediate, resounding YES. I’ve hiked and foraged around Lower Falls for years, and capturing a love story in that exact spot has been on my bucket list forever. Naturally, I tried to reserve a campsite so I could make a full night out of the trip, only to find the entire place booked. I put my name on the waitlist, crossed my fingers, and three days later—a double campsite opened up! Because the best journeys are the ones shared with your favorite people, I turned it into a mini-expedition. My husband, a few good friends, my teenager, and her crew all came along for the ride. And honestly? They were an absolute dream team. Armed with a few GoPros and a shared mission, we set off. The morning of the proposal started in the absolute best way possible: a quiet moment with a hot cup of camp coffee. By 10:00 AM, my "crew" and I were scattered near the falls, blending in as casual tourists. Right on cue, Gavin guided Anna to the edge of the rocks. Bathed in the softest morning light, backlit by the sun and mist, he asked—and she said YES. After the tearful yes, we spent the rest of the morning exploring both the top and bottom of the falls for their engagement session. (A huge shoutout to my husband for being my pack-mule and safety spotter—navigating slick rocks with thousands of dollars of camera gear is no joke!). Gavin and Anna, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your epic new chapter. May your adventure together be filled with boundless joy, quiet beauty, and endless light. DEEP BREATH While I absolutely love what I do, as DEEP BREATH While I absolutely love what I do, as most business owners, I always get anxiety 4 times a year. I know that I could hire myself a book keeper and someone to do my taxes for me, but let's be honest. A lot of us born in the early 80’s have a hard time handing things off to others. We're that generation where computers were coming out as we were becoming old enough to use them. We're that generation, this sounds cliche, but our parents would lock us outside to play all day in the summer. We're use to handling and doing things on our own. So we do. But 4 times a year, I still get anxiety doing my business taxes and making sure everything is up to date. But the good news? It's done. I have some more months of freedom. I'm going to celebrate by delivering some more galleries and prep for a nice paddleboard float tomorrow morning, before heading back into business mode for headshots tomorrow afternoon. When Gavin’s email hit my inbox, I got SO excited. When Gavin’s email hit my inbox, I got SO excited. Capturing his proposal to Anna at one of my favorite spots? Absolutely. The universe was in on the plan as well, I put my name on the waiting list as the campsite was booked up. Two days later, site was booked and things were planned. I brought along my family to try to hide what I was there for. But also, to hold GoPros at multiple angles to capture the whole thing on video. We are not professional videographers, but the images I pulled off my camera after our session at the bottom of the falls? I can't wait to share. Missy made my daughter’s senior photo shoot a truly joyful experience. She’s not only an exceptionally talented photographer but also has a gift for drawing out genuine smiles, even from the most nervous subjects. My daughter is incredibly camera shy and was worried she’d look “awkward,” but from the moment we met Missy, she was at ease. I’m so glad we chose the package with all the digital images—Missy captured so many stunning shots, I couldn’t have chosen just a few. I can’t thank her enough for making the process fun and beautifully capturing such a pivotal moment in my daughter’s life.
