Steamboat Landing in Washougal, WA is just a quick drive down SR 14 from Vancouver, WA. This makes it a great place to be on the waterfront and capture the golden light from the sun as it sets.
Due to all the rain and high water, part of the dock was washed away, so the main dock was blocked off. We were able to get down to the beach and a smaller section of the dock for some amazing images.
The overlook, path, and tunnel that are all in the upper end of the park. With it being a gorgeous sky, we were able to capture Mt Hood off in the distance, as well as get some fun sun flares.
I love how I get “we’re kind of awkward and don’t know how to pose” at the beginning of the engagement session. By the end, we’re all laughing and they don’t even realize that they are doing all of the posing themselves.
I like to do a quick walkthrough of pose ideas and variations at the beginning, that way you have kind of an idea of what we look for. Then out come my bad jokes and with these two, the talk of video games. She has a Twitch channel so of course, we had to talk. Leaving you, the couple, at ease, and letting me capture your true, authentic self.
The whole evening was perfect, and I can’t wait to capture their wedding next September!
Love this session? Check out Amanda and Jamison‘s in the Hoyt Arboretum as well!
